Everton takeover: Alternative bidders in wings as 777 don’t want to provide new March loan
Everton need more money from 777 Partners before the end of March but the new owners will be “reluctant” to provide it, according to the Daily Mail.
According to a report on the paper’s website on 27 February there are “several” other interested buyers who could yet step in if the current bidders are rejected by the Premier League, with the wait of nearly six months a source of frustration for the Americans who say it can’t go on past next month.
777 have already provided around £190million in loans to the club for running costs, and the Toffees’ debts will increase further if one of the alternative suitors were to be turned to as they will still require additional funding either way, and the league would then have to scrutinise another bid.
Everton debts to grow next month if 777 Partners replaced in takeover running
It is no secret that Everton are up to their ears in debt to various creditors, including MSP Sports Capital and Rights and Media Funding Ltd who blocked the former’s attempted minority ownership deal.
777 Partners will go to the back of the queue if their long-awaited takeover does not prove to be successful, and the prospect of an alternative coming in would then have to add another name to the list.
Whoever was to step in would presumably have to meet the running costs at the club in the same way that Americans have been since September.

The current prospective new owners are now due for face-to-face talks with the Premier League in attempt to break the impasse, so perhaps an answer on whether the March loan will be expected to come from them or elsewhere is now not far off.
Potential new bidders have often been alluded to in recent months, but it is only 777 who has ever successfully agreed a deal with Farhad Moshiri so a decision one way or another on them must be reached.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are now “likely” to agree an £80million sale.
