Everton: Simon Jordan slams ‘nightmare’ 777 Partners takeover in new Premier League verdict
Simon Jordan has hit out at 777 Partners yet again as he questioned the reasons behind the Everton takeover, insisting the Premier League are right to take their time over a decision.
This has come after it was reported that there have been further delays to the takeover bid, with the owners and directors test still ongoing with no decision in sight.
The former Crystal Palace owner explained that, as questions remain surrounding the source of 777’s funding and what their long-term plan is for Everton, the Premier League are right to delay their decision.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [29 February], Jordan ranted: “I don’t like the look of them, I don’t like the sound of them, I don’t like the smell of them and I don’t like the feel of them. I’m not entirely sure that Everton won’t be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.
“I think it’s entirely appropriate that the Premier League are making sure that every aspect of what 777 Capital currently own and what their outlook is towards the football clubs that they have, and I don’t think it’s particularly healthy.
“Ultimately, if you’re buying a football club, who should be the major beneficiary? The fans will believe that the football club should be, if you’re the buyer then you’re obviously buying it for a reason.
“What’s holding up the takeover is the people that are trying to buy it, where their funding is coming from, what they’ve done with the current funding, who is behind that funding, and what their ultimate long-term plan is with Everton.
“The Premier League are making sure that they’re not going to allow Everton to walk backwards into a further nightmare.”
When will 777 Partners complete their Everton takeover?
777 Partners are still awaiting a verdict from the Premier League’s owners and directors test to be granted permission to complete their takeover of Everton.
This has come while they have been regularly loaning money to the club to support day-to-day operations while the takeover is pending and at the same time, racking up the club’s debts.
Several concerns have emerged surrounding the group, including protests from fans over the other clubs in their portfolio and questions regarding the strength and origin of their finances.
Jordan has been extremely vocal in his questioning of 777, the takeover and their motives behind the deal, having previously claimed Everton fans should be very worried about the possibility of the takeover going through.

As a result, the continued delays have been met with both concern and applause, with some just wanting the process to be over, while others like Jordan insist the time taken is necessary to find the correct outcome for the club’s future.
