Brentford boss Thomas Frank adamant over what will happen to Everton and Nottingham Forest next
Brentford manager Thomas Frank fully expects Everton and Nottingham Forest to be deducted points after being charged with PSR breaches.
Everton this week had four points restated from the 10 deducted earlier in the campaign, but they face a second punishment.
A hearing is due to take place later this month and Frank, whose Brentford side are in relegation trouble, wants a decision to be made swiftly.
“For me, it’s very simple: if you break the rules, there needs to be sanction – end of discussion,” Frank said, as per The Standard [1 March].
“That’s the society we’re living in; that’s the football world we’re living in – boom. How much, how little?
“There are much more clever guys than me. Luckily they take care of that and they should know what kind of sanction it should be.
“If it’s two points, six points, ten points, 20 points, I don’t care – that’s up to them. I’m here to coach a football team and try to win football matches.
“The only thing I would say is Nottingham and Everton will, with what you read, get a points deduction in the near future.
“They will appeal it, and then the result of that appeal we need to know before the end of the season, for everyone involved, especially for them.”
Everton and Nottingham Forest PSR hearings to be held this month
Frank is not wrong in saying a decision needs to be made ASAP. The problem, though, is that it has already been widely reported any appeal – and there will be appeals should both teams be docked points – will not conclude until after the season ends.
It sets up a remarkable scenario in which a team could celebrate staying up on the final day, or indeed believe they have been relegated, only to find out a week later that the opposite is true.

It is not fair on anyone that this is potentially going to drag on and on. Having waited so long for the first PSR appeal to come through, Everton fans are now entirely used to this.
Sean Dyche needs to keep getting points on the board and hope that a second points deduction, should there be one, does not impact us too much.
Given the tight nature of the bottom half, though, you just know the picture is going to be incredibly murky until the end of the season – and indeed beyond.
