Everton: Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford transfer update as contract clause emerges
Everton have not included relegation release clauses in Jarrad Branthwaite or Jordan Pickford’s contracts at Goodison Park, according to Matt Hughes.
The Daily Mail journalist reported on Thursday (29 February) that the Toffees have decided to insert mandatory wage cuts into recent contracts, but they have denied some of their best players release clauses.
This will allow Sean Dyche’s side to sell both Branthwaite and Pickford to the highest bidder if they are relegated this season while the rest of the first-team squad will be hit with huge wage cuts.
However, the Toffees’ goalkeeper doesn’t have a wage-cut clause in his deal at Goodison Park as Everton expect the England goalkeeper to demand a transfer if they fall into the Championship.
Will Jarrad Branthwaite or Jordan Pickford leave Everton this summer?
Everton have found themselves in a relegation battle this season and while the Toffees have taken a huge step towards Premier League safety having received four of their 10-point deduction following their appeal to an independent commission.
A second charge for breaking the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules may mean that a second points deduction could be round the corner at Goodison Park and Dyche may have to once again drag the Toffees out of the bottom three.

But it will be a relief to supporters that Everton aren’t going to lose some of their most sellable assets for next to nothing this summer as they will still be able to demand an enormous fee for Branthwaite and Pickford from England’s second tier.
Hopefully, Dyche’s side won’t have to worry about selling their stars from the Championship, but for once, Everton have prepared sensibly on the business side of proceedings at Goodison Park.
