Manchester City 50-point deduction mooted as Premier League and Everton development emerges
Everton would have survived relegation from the Premier League this season even with a 10-point deduction.
That is according to former Goodison Park scout Bryan King, who now have an even larger chance of surviving the drop.
The prediction comes after the Toffees had their 10-point deduction for financial breaches reduced to six points.
Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “Well, what was the point of the inquiry and putting the club through a 10-point deduction when everybody was thinking they were quite lucky to get away with just 10? I’d really like to see what accumulated to somebody giving the club a 10-point deduction.
“It’s great for them, all of a sudden they’ve gone up two places in the league, because as quickly as they lost six they’ve now gained four, which puts them in a position where I thought anyway, even with a 10-point deduction, I could see them surviving.
“But now there is an even larger chance for them to survive, because the clubs around them, the clubs that came up from the Championship, are finding it very difficult, all of them who came up.
“Everton were lucky they didn’t go down last season. I think they are quite well-equipped to cope with what’s around them and finish above them.
“It’s going to be very interesting to see where the Manchester City one goes. 115 charges? If they’re found guilty, how many points will they be deducted? 50? I don’t know, but it’s obviously given Everton and their supporters a boost, but all unnecessary. I’d like to know the exact original charges and how they can be appealed.”
Everton rise Premier League standings after appeal
The Toffees were adamant from the very start that they were not guilty of financial breaches, and their appeal turned out to be rather successful.

Not all of the 10 points were given back, but everyone associated with the Goodison Park club can still be happy with the recent verdict.
It did bring Everton up to 15th place in the table, but they have dropped down to 16th following the latest round of results, and are still heavily involved in a relegation battle.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are likely to be docked more points as a “serious punishment” verdict is shared by a finance expert.
