Everton former employee slams ‘weak’ Premier League after Goodison Park appeal decision ‘mockery’
Everton being handed a six-point deduction instead of 10 has made a mockery of the Premier League.
That is the view of ex-Toffees scout Bryan King, who shared the verdict after the club had their initial punishment reduced by four points.
The Goodison Park outfit were handed the punishment for financial breaches earlier this season, with another charge added later in the campaign.
Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “I think the Premier League has looked a bit weak ever since it started, certainly this season.
“The introduction of VAR has been a farce, and now the first club to be charged, which looked as though they were going to take a tough approach, all of a sudden they’ve changed their minds and reduced the 10 points to six, when everybody was quite aware that what’s gone on here could have been more than 10 points.
“Who is sitting on the committee? Who is making these decisions? Either there’s a fair play rule in place or there isn’t. Because really, it starts to make a bit of a mockery of it.”
Did the Everton appeal process make the Premier League look weak?
The Premier League and the blue half of Merseyside have not got on well in recent years, both on and off the pitch.
Concerning the former, the Toffees have been struggling at the lower end of the table for some time now, with the club currently in another relegation scrap.

They have managed to stay in the competition each time, but matters off the pitch could now see them drop down to the Championship.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are likely to be docked more points as a “serious punishment” verdict is shared by a finance expert.
