Everton takeover: Sources close to 777 Partners issue update

Sources close to 777 Partners have shared if there are any issues with regards to the Everton takeover, per Telegraph.

The newspaper reported on its website on 4 March that there will be no issues over them being able to fund the Toffees.

The Miami-based investing firm remain committed to the Toffees and the Premier League are now the ones left to green-light the deal.

The report reads: “Everton were hit by claims that the takeover could be put in danger by allegations regarding one of 777s subsidiaries, 777Re, which is a Bermuda-based reinsurer.

“But sources close to 777 insisted the reinsurer has been placed under administrative control as part of a reorganisation of the industry by Bermudan authorities, rather than being placed into administration, and that there are no issues for their funding of the Everton deal as a result.”

777 Partners might not be the ideal ones to complete the Everton takeover

The reassurance from 777’s co-founders about appointing a new CFO aims to subdue concerns about the company’s financial stability following the departure of Alfalla.

However, the timing of this announcement amidst ongoing takeover negotiations with Everton raises questions about the true state of 777’s finances.

Moreover, allegations regarding one of 777’s subsidiaries, 777Re, add to the uncertainty surrounding the takeover.

While sources may downplay these allegations, claiming that the subsidiary is merely under administrative control as part of a regulatory reorganization, doubts linger about the company’s transparency and trustworthiness.

This situation suggests that 777 may not be fully forthcoming about potential financial issues, casting doubt on their ability to successfully complete the takeover of the Toffees.

For a side that’s been owned by Farhad Moshiri, this will be the last thing that anyone involved will want.

The lack of clarity and the company’s attempts to downplay concerns contribute to a perception that 777 cannot be fully trusted in its dealings with the football club.
