Everton Women: Isabella Hobson reveals ‘dream’ verdict despite Manchester City loss
Isabella Hobson gave an immediate reaction to earning her Women’s Super League debut as Everton Women lost narrowly to Manchester City on Saturday 2 March.
At 16 years and 123 days old, the midfielder became the youngest female Toffees debutant in almost 14 years, since Nakita Paris in May 2010.
Despite the 2-1 loss to Man City at the Joie Stadium, Hobson was extremely excited to have come on as a late substitute, replacing Elise Stenevik in added time.
Speaking to EvertonTV on Wednesday (6 March), the young prospect said: “It was all a bit unexpected but when I got on, I was just so glad to have been given that opportunity.
“I know it was only a few minutes but getting a taste of it just makes me want it more. I’ve been at the club since I was seven so it was a dream come true for me. I’ve been working towards this moment since I joined, and being a massive Everton fan helps.”
Isabella Hobson in the Everton spotlight despite Manchester City defeat
Everton Women’s season has been a difficult one in the league, currently sitting in 10th place, with 14 points from 15 matches and eight points above last-place Bristol City.
Just like their FA Cup campaign, Hobson has shined a bright light over what has been quite a miserable league season, but there is still a chance to turn things around.
The Toffees next match is against Women’s Super League table-toppers Chelsea. However, anything can happen in the FA Cup, though their head-to-head history would suggest a Blues win is the most expected outcome.
Brian Sorensen’s squad is a mix of older, more experienced players with very exciting, yet inexperienced youngsters, who may need a couple of seasons to combine and work out how to play best.

For example, 21-year-old Hanna Bennison and 19-year-old Karoline Olesen have been key parts of Sorensen’s starting XI this season, with the manager happy to take risks with his younger players.
Hobson is yet another example of this, and with her love and passion for the club, she should be a name to keep your eye on as she continues to develop at Walton Hall Park.
In other Everton news, one player has hinted at a possible exit from Goodison Park.
