Everton: The Esk slams 777 Partners after what Josh Wander said about fans at Goodison Park
The Esk has hit out at 777 Partners and Josh Wander yet again after the prospective buyer suggested Everton fans should be grateful for their support in recent times.
Wander insisted that his group should be shown gratitude for the ongoing funding of the club, with a reported near-£200million worth of loans having been lent at Goodison Park.
The Esk made it clear that financial support in the form of loans was an issue by itself and questioned why they should show gratitude given the uncertainty surrounding the takeover.
Writing via his blog [7 March], The Esk questioned: “Josh Wander purportedly questioned [whether] fans should show gratitude for 777’s financial support (loans by the way)? Excuse me? How dare you?
“How dare anyone walk into Goodison Park and question the motives and behaviour of Everton fans? How dare expect gratitude? For what? Failure to satisfy the Premier League as to your suitability?
“It’s time to reject 777 Partners, allow other ownership options, time to behave like, to act like, to enjoy once more the status of Senior club in the City.”
Should Everton fans be grateful to 777 Partners amid takeover talks?
Given the level of concern and negative stories which are seemingly constant surrounding 777 and their takeover, the suggestion that Everton fans should be grateful for their position is a ridiculous claim from somebody who clearly doesn’t understand how this works.
Respect, particularly in football and especially from those at Goodison Park, is earned, not given. If 777 complete their takeover and prove they can take the club in the right direction, perhaps the fans will show their gratitude. Until then, Wander will have to lower his expectations.
At this stage, the Premier League’s owners and directors test regarding the takeover has been dragging on for longer than anybody had expected. Richard Masters previously explained that this was down to 777 not having provided all of the information asked of them.

However, more concerns have since arisen surrounding the group’s other ventures, including their other football clubs across Europe, leaving Everton in an uncertain situation.
Until that situation can be clarified, and the Premier League makes a decision one way or the other, questions will remain up in the air surrounding Wander, 777, and their intentions at Everton.
