Everton: Richard Keys and Andy Gray share Manchester United verdict

Everton played really well under Sean Dyche despite losing to Manchester United, according to Andy Gray.

The Toffees were defeated 2-0 by the Red Devils in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Saturday (9 March), although Richard Keys still believes the victors are not good enough.

The hosts netted two penalties, with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford scoring from the spot after fouls from James Tarkowski and Ben Godfrey on Alejandro Garnacho.

“They are not good enough, are they?” Keys said on beIN Sports. “You can’t play well if you’re not very good, and they’re not very good.” Gray replied: “I think there are players there who are underperforming, full stop.”

Gray noted shortly after: “In fairness to Sean Dyche, he got his team playing really well today. You can’t argue with that.”

Manchester United edge past Everton at Old Trafford

It was by no means a top display from Manchester United, who came under plenty of pressure from the Toffees.

But it was a win nonetheless, which will delight Erik ten Hag, leaving Everton manager Dyche very frustrated.

The visitors had plenty of chances to get on the scoresheet in Manchester, but they couldn’t manage to find the back of the net.

Dyche will undoubtedly analyse the game closely, which was ultimately lost due to poor challenges in the box from defenders Tarkowski and Godfrey.

It means the Toffees remain in a real Premier League relegation fight, with time rapidly running out for the Merseyside club to put some much-needed points on the board.

They currently occupy 16th place in the standings, but could drop to 17th should Nottingham Forest defeat Brighton on Sunday (10 March).
