Everton transfer news: £50m+ demand as Barcelona bid for Amadou Onana
Everton have demanded £51.1million for the sale of Amadou Onana after turning down a £34million bid from Spanish giants Barcelona, according to Sport Bild.
The German news outlet reported on 11 March that Barcelona have targeted Onana to replace the hole left by Sergio Busquets who left for Inter Miami.
It is also said that both Arsenal and Chelsea continue to monitor the midfielder’s situation, having previously been linked during the January transfer window.
Will Amadou Onana leave Everton this summer?
It looks fairly likely that Everton will have to sell some of their star players in the summer given the financial situation the club has found itself in. Onana, given his reputation and price tag, could be one of those players.
It could be smart for Everton to try to drive up the price using interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest to kickstart a bidding war with Barcelona and make the most of the opportunity to make a profit on Onana.
Onana arrived at Goodison Park for a £36million fee, so any deal to let him go would have to be a significant increase on that price in an attempt to maximise their profit on the midfielder – rather than the initial bid which fell below what they had paid previously.

With Barcelona reportedly having opened negotiations with Everton, it remains to be seen whether they will return with an offer closer to his valuation, but Arsenal and Chelsea will now be on alert.
