Everton: Alan Shearer gushes over Alejandro Garnacho after what he did at Old Trafford
Everton “couldn’t handle” Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho in the recent clash between the two clubs, according to Alan Shearer.
The Red Devils ran out 2-0 winners in the Premier League encounter at Old Trafford on Saturday (9 March).
Garnacho won two first-half penalties following fouls from James Tarkowski and Ben Godfrey, with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford converting from the spot.
Naming Garnacho in his Premier League Team of the Week (12 March), Shearer said: “Everton couldn’t handle his pace and trickery as he won both penalties in the 2-0 win.”
Everton fail to deal with Manchester United ace Alejandro Garnacho at Old Trafford
The Toffees were more than capable of taking something from Old Trafford on Saturday, whether it was a point or all three.
But much to the frustration of visiting manager Sean Dyche, that certainly didn’t happen, with his players really letting him down.
They did put in a fine shift on the pitch, but ultimately failed when it came to the major details. Experienced defenders Tarkowski and Godfrey lost focus as they both gave away penalties on the road, while the travelling forwards failed to capitalise on a long, long list of chances.
The defeat means the Merseyside club’s miserable run continues, with the Toffees currently sitting in 16th place in the Premier League table.

Frustratingly for Dyche and his players, FA Cup and international action means they have a long wait to try and rectify the situation, with their next match coming against Bournemouth at the very end of the month.
