Everton: Sky Sports journalist wants Jordan Pickford wrapped in cotton wool amid injury claim

Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford must be wrapped in cotton wool between now and Euro 2024.

That is according to Sky Sports journalist Lewis Jones, with the Three Lions set to play in the major tournament this summer.

Gareth Southgate is expected to name his latest squad on Thursday (14 March) ahead of this month’s friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

“Aside from Harry Kane, is there a more important player to keep fit between now and June than Jordan Pickford?” Jones wrote for Sky Sports.

“The England goalkeeper, whisper it quietly, has yet to let his country down in big games like others have done in the past.

“He is Mr Reliable for Gareth Southgate – a player that seems to thrive in the pressure cooker of tournament football. Wrap Pickford up in cotton wool, now!”

Has Everton ace Jordan Pickford already secured a Euro 2024 place?

England manager Southgate has a lot of big decisions to make ahead of his latest squad announcement. There will be various players vying for various positions, with the manager needing to select his squad carefully for the upcoming friendly clashes.

The Three Lions will meet the South American giants on 23 March, before taking on their European counterparts three days later, with both matches set to take place at Wembley.

Southgate may just experiment ahead of the major tournament this summer, but Toffees star Pickford really isn’t in any danger of missing out anytime soon.

The Goodison Park ace may be rested later this month in order to allow Southgate to find a suitable deputy in Germany, where Pickford will undoubtedly still be his nation’s number one.

Everton
Jordan Pickford has been linked with a move away from Everton.

The goalkeeper has impressed for both club and country in recent years, and will be key for the former in the near future as they look to stay in the Premier League this season.
