Everton slammed by Martin Keown live on talkSPORT, ‘really toxic’ verdict shared
Everton would have beaten Manchester United easily if they were good in front of goal, according to Martin Keown.
The pundit shared the verdict live on talkSPORT after the Toffees lost 2-0 to the Red Devils on Saturday (9 March).
Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford both scored from the penalty spot in the Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
“I spoke to some Manchester United fans, friends of mine, and they were saying the atmosphere was really toxic against Everton,” Keown said on talkSPORT. “As bad as they’ve ever known it, really, really poor.
“They couldn’t believe they won the game. Everton had 23 shots on goal, just as well they’re not very good in front of goal, otherwise they would have won that game quite easily.”
Everton miss out on great chance to pick up much-needed points
The clash at Old Trafford really was a fantastic chance for the Toffees to put their recent woes behind them and put some much-needed points on the board.
But it was the hosts who came out on top, despite the visitors having several chances to find the back of the net throughout the 90 minutes.
Instead, they were not clinical going forward and switched off at the back, with James Tarkowski and Ben Godfrey giving away penalties having both fouled Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho.
Plenty of time has passed since the defeat, but Toffees manager Sean Dyche will still be massively frustrated at the result.
It leaves the Merseyside outfit sitting 16th in the Premier League table, four points outside of the relegation zone.

Fortunately, the likes of Nottingham Forest, Luton Town, Sheffield United and Burnley are all really struggling below them, while 15th-placed Brentford are also on a disastrous run of form.
