Everton: Alan Myers shares new point deduction prediction in Nottingham Forest verdict

Everton will likely receive less than a four-point deduction for their second alleged profit and sustainability breach, according to Alan Myers.

The Toffees had originally been deducted 10 points for their first breach of the Premier League’s financial fair play rules, but that punishment was reduced to six points following Sean Dyche’s side’s successful appeal.

However, both Everton and Nottingham Forest are facing a second charge and while further punishment is likely, Sky Sports reporter Myers expects the Toffees to receive a lighter penalty than Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Writing on X on Sunday (17 March) he said: “Honestly can’t say for sure but my guess would be 4-6 for Forest, and less for us (depending on the outcome of Double Jeopardy claim).”

Will Everton receive a second point deduction and face Premier League relegation?

There has been so much uncertainty around Goodison Park recently, with potential point deductions looming and constant delays over 777 Partners’ takeover which is still awaiting approval from the Premier League.

However, it does seem as though fears of relegation can be eased ever so slightly as Myers has suggested that any further punishment heading the Toffees’ way will likely be minimal and not particularly damning this season.

Everton currently sit three points clear of Luton Town in the relegation zone, with Forest between them and the bottom three. Should Forest’s punishment be heavier than the Toffees’, it may prove decisive in the dogfight at the bottom.

Hopefully, Myers is right and Dyche’s side will escape with little more than a couple of points off their tally. As long as they improve their performances on the pitch, they will have more than enough to avoid coasting into the Championship.
