Everton: BBC journalist baffled by Nottingham Forest development as relegation verdict shared

BBC journalist Karl Bates has been left baffled by the fact Everton and Nottingham Forest have both been punished for financial breaches before Manchester City have had their case resolved.

The BBC Radio London journalist tweeted on Monday (18 March) that it will cost the Toffees and Forest millions if they suffer relegation after the Nottinghamshire club were handed a four-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

Bates added that he isn’t saying those clubs shouldn’t be punished, but he questioned how the hell the Citizens can carry on winning trophies and making money while they are facing more than 100 charges, with the media turning a blind eye to the situation.

Manchester City resolution needed after Everton and Nottingham Forest news

It’s pretty clear that there needs to be some kind of resolution now to the charges that were handed out to Man City.

That situation has gone on for far too long and it’s completely discrediting the Premier League after Everton and Forest have been punished for their errors.

The argument after these punishments have been handed out is always going to be “well, what about Man City?”, so they really need to bring the matter to a close.

While the Toffees did receive four points back to help them in their fight against relegation, there will be concerns at the City Ground about their chances of staying up after their four-point deduction has landed them in the bottom three.

The season has been a bit of a shambles after how much uncertainty the charges have caused and everyone will be looking forward to, hopefully, just focusing on the football beyond this campaign.
