Everton: Ian Wright shares relegation prediction post Nottingham Forest news
Ian Wright believes that Nottingham Forest and not Everton will get relegated with Luton Town also managing to avoid the drop.
Once he learned about the news that Forest will be docked four points, the former Arsenal striker expects them to go down with Burnley and Sheffield United.
However, for the Toffees to stay up, he thinks they need to get their job done before the final day clash against the Gunners who may need a win to win the Premier League.
Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Wright said (18 March, 14:58): “I think if that happens, Luton will get out of it, with Forest, Burnley and Sheffield United going down. You do feel like they’re gone. I’m hoping that Luton can save themselves.
“When you look at Luton’s home games, they can get points from that. When you see Everton’s, massive games. They’ve got Arsenal on the last day. If they haven’t got it done by then they might be in trouble.”
Everton have what it takes to avoid relegation
Wright makes a valid point – Sean Dyche’s side cannot leave it until the last day to get the right result to stay up.
If Forest are docked four points, they will have 21 in the bank and will sit in 18th place.
Everton have 25 and are currently 16th with a better goal difference than Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Dyche has been in these scenarios before and knows the pressure that comes with it but also the ideal way to get out of the best.
The Toffees themselves have been in relegation battles for the two seasons prior to this one and are set for yet another fight to the finish.
