Everton: BBC journalist baffled as evidence raises questions over unfair treatment amid PSR latest

Giulia Bould has slammed the “absolute mess” caused by the Premier League deducting Nottingham Forest four points in wake of the previous Everton punishment.

The Toffees had 10 points taken off them earlier this season, only to then have four of those reinstated upon appeal.

The Premier League previously stated that a six-point deduction “is the minimum but sufficient sanction” for such a breach.

BBC journalist Bould shared that document in a post on X [18 March], which goes a long way to suggesting Everton have been unfairly treated.

“Just leaving this here, “a six point deduction is the minimum… required to achieve the aims of the PSR,” Bould posted.

“No ill-feeling towards Forest at all but this is now an absolute mess with #EFC being treated differently to everyone else.”

Premier League called out over Everton PSR punishment

Everton fans have been adamant since the moment news first emerged of the first PSR breach that the Premier League have been making things up as they go along.

Six months down the line, the wider world can also now see that. Following news of Forest’s four-point deduction on Monday (18 March), seemingly everyone on social media questioned why the sanction was so low.

Whether it is the 10 points Everton were initially docked, or six points upon appealing it, Forest appear to have got off lightly.

While on the face of it this still appears good news for the Toffees, with a further buffer on the bottom three, they are themselves awaiting a second charge imminently.

If the past few months are anything to go by, you can expect the Premier League to pull a number out of a hat and announce that as the number of points deducted this time around.
