Everton fan questions mooted by Alex Crook on talkSPORT after Nottingham Forest development

Everton supporters will start to ask questions of the Premier League after Nottingham Forest’s points deduction.

That is according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, after Forest were docked four points for breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

The Toffees were docked 10 points earlier in the campaign for such a breach, although that was later reduced to six.

“I guess it will get Everton fans asking the question because their overspend was significantly less than Forest’s,” Crook said on talkSPORT.

“Why is it four points for Nottingham Forest, and of course the initial penalty for Everton was 10, reduced to six on appeal.”

More Everton fan fury after Nottingham Forest sanction

Everton supporters have been through plenty of downs this season, with not many ups taking place at Goodison Park.

The worst was, of course, the points deduction, which saw the Toffees fall way down the Premier League table.

A stunning run of form under Sean Dyche saw them rise the standings, but that has been followed by a disastrous run, with the Merseyside outfit very much involved in a relegation battle.

Even though they would have wanted a harsher punishment for their rivals, the Toffees have now been massively helped out by the Premier League and its decision to punish Nottingham Forest, with the latter dropping into the bottom three after the punishment.

They now have 21 points to their name and occupy 18th place in the table, with the Goodison Park outfit sitting in 16th.

Dyche’s side do, however, have another potential points deduction going their way following their second charge, with that verdict yet to be handed out.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have been slammed by Martin Keown on talkSPORT, with a “really toxic” verdict shared.
