Everton: Goodison Park insiders to feel bemused by Nottingham Forest news in Premier League
Everton insiders will be feeling bemused that Nottingham Forest have only been deducted four points by the Premier League.
That is according to the Daily Mail’s Ian Herbert, with the Nottingham side handed the punishment for breaching the competition’s financial rules.
The Toffees were handed a 10-point deduction earlier this season for the same offence, which has since been reduced to six.
“Everton were still digesting the Forest PSR report last night and making no response, but some at that club will feel bemusement that Forest have been hit with a four-point penalty, two points less than their own and perhaps less still on appeal, when their overspend was far greater,” Herbert wrote for the Daily Mail (pg 70, 19 March).
Will Nottingham Forest follow the appeal process taken by Everton?
The Toffees will, of course, know exactly how those at Forest are feeling right now, from fans all the way up to the boardroom.
The Goodison Park club were docked a massive 10 points earlier in the campaign, although that punishment was changed to six upon appeal.
It certainly makes sense then for Forest to appeal their decision, especially given how they have now dropped into the Premier League relegation zone.
They now occupy 18th place in the standings, one point away from safety, with time running out to climb back up the table.
Their pain is, of course, a delight for those at Goodison Park, with the Toffees now in with a better chance of survival this season following the punishment.

Interestingly, the two clubs are set to go head-to-head in Merseyside next month, in a match that will undoubtedly be filled with tension and nerves both on and off the pitch.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have been slammed by Martin Keown on talkSPORT, with a “really toxic” verdict shared.
