Everton: Simon Stone shares when second Goodison PSR charge hearing likely to take place
The hearing over the second PSR charge aimed at Everton is likely to be heard next week, according to Simon Stone.
Answering questions on his Q&A on the BBC Sport website on Tuesday (19 March, 12:16pm), the journalist said the Toffees will have the right to appeal against any punishment and the backstop date for that is 24 May after Nottingham Forest learned they had been handed a four-point deduction.
He added that the reason the Blues are at risk of being sanctioned twice in the same season is because Premier League clubs decided that the process had to be sped up, with the Merseysiders being charged for two rolling three-year periods.
“They were charged at the same time as Forest but their case is yet to be heard,” said Stone. “I think it will be next week, after which Everton would have the right to appeal against any punishment. The backstop date is the same, 24 May.
“To clarify, the reason why Everton are at risk of being sanctioned twice in the same season is that the Premier League clubs decided the process had to be sped up and for Everton, that ended up with charges for two rolling three-year periods.”
Everton need resolution to PSR mess
It’s been a complete and utter mess how the charges have been handed out – and dealt with – during this season.
While Everton have accepted their guilt, it’s extremely unfair that they could be set to receive two points deductions in the same season.
After getting four points back following their successful appeal over the first ruling, they will just want this matter to be drawn to a close as quickly as possible.

It’s completely ridiculous that the backstop for any potential appeal to the second judgement has been set for 24 May, which is five days after the final day of the Premier League season.
That means there is a very realistic prospect that some clubs may not know which division they are playing in on the final day of the campaign and that’s unacceptable.
