Everton: Tony Bellew explodes at ‘corrupt’ Premier League live on talkSPORT

Tony Bellew has fumed at the Premier League live on talkSPORT after Nottingham Forest were handed a points deduction, with a second likely to be handed to Everton.

The former world champion boxer, and massive Everton fan, labelled the Premier League “corrupt” and slammed the “absolute disgrace” decision-making at the top of the game.

Bellew questioned how the Toffees have been punished more harshly than Forest despite their breach being less severe, insisting the Premier League are “destroying football.”

Speaking live on talkSPORT [19 March, 08:06], Bellew ranted: “It’s an absolute disgrace. The Premier League needs looking at. It’s going to end up like FIFA, with the path they went down with the corruption and all of that. It’s an absolute disgrace.

“You’ve got a team in Man City who’ve had more charges than I can possibly think of, and there’s no punishment come to them.

“I’ve got no problem with Forest, they’re a big club, a good club, but they’ve done far worse than us but get a lesser points deduction. It doesn’t make any sense. The Premier League are not doing anything right and they’re destroying football single-handedly.

“It’s just so difficult. They could take another points deduction from us, where’s the justice in that? That would mean if they take another two points, that’s eight points when you’ve taken four from Forest who have done more than us, but you’ve taken double. Where’s the justice?”

Tony Bellew explodes at Premier League in Everton PSR rant

This is not the first time Bellew has been heavily critical of the Premier League after he previously slammed the decision-makers during the appeal process for Everton to reclaim what ended up as four of their ten-point deduction back.

The league and decision-makers at the top of the game have received plenty of stick for the way they have handled the financial situation and punishments handed both to the Toffees and Nottingham Forest recently.

With the Merseyside club now facing the threat of another points deduction, protests against the Premier League at Goodison Park – which have been so prevalent this season – will likely have yet more fuel added to the fire.

With the threat of points deductions likely to play a huge part in the relegation battle, which Everton are very much involved in, it’s hard not to imagine that the players and the clubs will be greatly affected by the way the Premier League has handled things.

In other Everton news, a second points deduction is now inevitable.
