Everton: Verdict dates on potential 2nd points deduction emerge after Nottingham Forest hearing

Everton should expect to hear the decision of their next independent commission hearing on either 2 or 3 April, according to Martin Lipton.

The journalist reported via Twitter on 18 March that the club are now just over two weeks from learning the verdict of their second profit and sustainability charge.

A potential appeal is slated to then follow within around a month of the decision as the club finally close in on answers to another one of the major unresolved issues hovering over their season.

The Toffees’ hearing is due to start this week now that the verdict from Nottingham Forest’s has been released, with the club controversially docked just four points for their own spending breach.

Could Everton avoid second points deduction after Forest verdict?

It certainly looks like the entirety of the Toffees’ campaign is going to be overshadowed by major off-field concerns, with the timeframe pushing right up towards the end of the season.

Specific dates offer a bit more clarity, but if the verdict is as unwelcome as the first then there will no doubt again be an appeal.

Alan Myers is of the view that in light of the unexpectedly light sanction imposed at the City Ground it may now be possible for Everton escape a points sanction at all this time around, which should mercifully bring this issue to a close earlier if that is so.

But there remains the 777 takeover which is unresolved and potentially even more crucial to the direction of the future of the club.

On the pitch Sean Dyche’s side are anything but a well-oiled machine currently but if they do manage to escape danger they will certainly have done so while engulfed in a uniquely pressurised environment compared to the rest of the top flight.

In other Everton news, a Toffees player has received an apology from Dyche over an incident that left him embarrassed.
