Everton: Simon Jordan and Danny Murphy share new relegation prediction live on talkSPORT

Danny Murphy teased Simon Jordan about the relegation battle with an Everton jab live on talkSPORT as the pair shared their predictions for the bottom three.

As Jordan explained that he didn’t want to see Nottingham Forest or Luton relegated, Murphy joked that must mean he wants Everton to go down amid uncertainty about their position.

The former Fulham midfielder also shared that Everton and Forest won’t know where they are with regards to points deductions until they are finalised, with pressure now on Forest.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [12:56], Murphy gave his view: “Everton and Forest don’t know where they’re going to be, but in terms of a playing perspective, I think for Forest it can go one of two ways.

“I think it’s a massive ask for Forest now. The pressure has been heaped on them because of this, but ultimately they’ve got to win some games, and fast.”

Jordan then explained: “The landscape could change instantaneously. I still think, tragically, Sheffield United and Burnley are gone, and Luton will make a very good fist of it, but Forest have got just about enough.

Murphy continued: “I think Forest have been a bit unlucky at times, they’ve had some horrendous decisions against them and they’ve got some talented players. I hope Forest stay up, to be honest. I like watching some of their play.”

“But I also hope Luton stay up,” Jordan explained, before Murphy teased: “You want Everton to go down?”

“I don’t want anybody to go down,” Jordan responded. “It’s not something I’d wish upon anybody because it’s one of those things you don’t want to be involved in.”

Everton face a tough relegation battle

Despite Everton being mentioned, and remaining very much in the battle at the bottom, neither Jordan nor Murphy seemed to suggest they would go down, with both Nottingham Forest and Luton named as the teams in the most danger.

However, given the increased uncertainty due to PSR investigations and a possible second points deduction at Goodison Park, the entire look of the bottom of the table could still change before the season ends.

As things stand, though, Sean Dyche’s team sit four points above Forest and the relegation zone, with Luton the side separating them, and if they can pull off some wins to pick up points, they could drag themselves further towards safety.

Sean Dyche’s Everton side have faced plenty of challenges both on and off the pitch this season.

The Opta supercomputer recently assessed Everton as having a tiny 3.3 per cent chance of facing relegation this season, compared to Forest’s 37.5 per cent in the wake of the latest round of points deductions from the Premier League.
