Everton: Barcelona could offer four players in exchange for £51.3m Amadou Onana

Barcelona want to sign Amadou Onana this summer and are prepared to offer Everton a choice of four players in a swap deal, according to Sport.

Writing on their website (21 March), the Spanish news outlet report that the Toffees value the Belgium midfielder at £51.3m which the La Liga giants simply can’t afford with their current financial issues.

But Onana is a player they like a lot and they are prepared to offer up to four players to hit the value, with several players named as potential options for Everton.

“The big problem for the Culés, however, is that the player is valued at €60million (£51.3m), an amount that the Catalan club will hardly be able to assume,” they wrote.

“Given such a scenario, one of the options that the Catalans will explore is to include a player in the operation. There are several candidates.

“Barça will look to reduce the cost of a possible operation by including players. Names like Lenglet, Sergiño Dest, Ansu Fati or Fermín [Lopez] would be some of those that could interest the Liverpool club.”

Everton must be sensible in the transfer window

The upcoming summer transfer window is going to be one of the most important in the club’s history, and big decisions will need to be made.

The financial situation at the club means players will surely need to be moved on at some point, but whoever comes in to replace them will likely cost a fraction of the amount and will need to hit the ground running.

That means getting in experience will be vital, but losing a player like Onana will no doubt be incredibly difficult for the team to deal with.

Everton
Amadou Onana has been in incredible form for Everton this season.

If Everton are able to do a deal where experienced players like Lenglet or Dest join that could help, but also bringing in a player like Fermin or Ansu Fati could set the club up for the future with their talent and ceiling.

Money is arguably even more important than that though, and Sean Dyche deserves to have a say in how his squad will look too. This decision will be huge, but clearly there are options on the table.
