Everton: Sky Sports share £200m 777 Partners update as takeover news emerges
Sky Sports News have shared the three things 777 Partners need to do in order to obtain full control of Everton in their takeover.
Reports on Saturday (23 March) claim that the Premier League have conditionally approved a takeover for the Miami-based investment firm after they received a letter saying they are “minded to approve” the deal.
And Sky Sports News host Hayley McQueen (23 March) has now named the three thing that must be done before a deal can be formally completed.
“The group have agreed a deal with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri last September and have been waiting for the go ahead since then, and now need to meet a number of conditions before full approval can be granted,” she said.
“The process needs to go through an independent oversight committee, before final approval by the PFL board.”
Everton have no more clarity now than a week ago
While this may seem like progress on the face of the problem, it isn’t really as nothing has been done.
Nobody is seemingly aware of what these supposed conditions are, and you’d have to believe that if the conditions are that achievable that 777 Partners would have been able to do it already in the seven months that this situation has been dragging on for.
If it’s financial then the group should have already been able to provide the answers the Premier League want, and if they can’t then the takeover shouldn’t be getting any kind of approval as it is.
A conditional approval essentially means as things stand the takeover won’t be approved, which should see Everton walk away from the deal and find someone else who can take over the club.
It’s a huge mess and the future of the club is still up in the air. This has just added further confusion to the situation and fans deserve better.
