Ex-Everton scout blasts ‘ridiculous’ developments as points deduction news emerges

Everton had a “very good” run of results following their initial 10-point deduction, according to former Goodison Park scout Bryan King.

The Toffees had that punishment reduced to six points, with another charge ongoing, with a four-point deduction likely.

And King believes such charges from the Premier League – for financial fair play breaches – along with VAR, are “ridiculous.”

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “In actual fact, they had that very good period where they got back the points that they lost originally.

“Then they got given back an extra four points, which put them in a decent position at present, and now they are talking about having those points that they were given back taken away again.

“I think there needs to be some clarity here. It doesn’t seem as though the clarity is affecting all the teams that are involved in being charged.

“At the end of the day, what difference is it going to make? The best teams are going to win the league, and the not-so-good teams are going to be fighting relegation.

“The fair play thing, along with VAR, seem to be two of the most ridiculous things that have been introduced to football in the last five years.”

Can Everton recover if handed another points deduction?

The Toffees went on a superb run under Sean Dyche when they were docked 10 points earlier this season.

The players were clearly motivated to get the season back on track at that moment in time, but the momentum came to an abrupt halt, with a nightmare run sending them back down the Premier League table.

Sean Dyche’s Everton side have faced plenty of challenges both on and off the pitch this season.

A boost followed with the reduction of the initial 10 points to six, but the Merseyside club are set for another negative twist when they hear the outcome of their second charge.
