Everton: Second breach hearing begins on Monday in Goodison Park update

Everton head into their second profit and sustainability breach hearing on 25 March and will put their case to an independent commission over the next three days, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper reported in their print edition [25 March, page 52] that, having already been deducted ten points, later reduced to six, the club are set to hear the second decision by 8 April.

It is also said that the alleged overspend for the next period following the previous charge remains disputed, while Nottingham Forest were handed a four-point deduction after their recent hearing.

Will Everton be handed another points deduction?

Everton could be handed yet another points deduction as a result of their latest charge, with news to arrive in the coming weeks, although they will put forward a strong argument against given their previous deduction earlier this season.

If Forest’s four-point deduction is replicated, it will see Sean Dyche’s team go back to their initial ten points off, although it has become apparent that the hearings are taken case-by-case and therefore difficult to predict.

There remains the possibility that Everton will not know the final verdict on their potential second points deduction, and therefore the relegation battle, until after the season ends, although financial advisor Rob Wilson assured both parties would do everything to prevent that situation.

Either way, the prospect of a second points deduction is a very real threat given the punishment handed to Forest, and the club will be hoping the independent commission gathered today will be more reasonable than before.
