Everton: Jordan Pickford slammed after what he did in ‘horrible’ moment
Rob Green slammed Everton star Jordan Pickford after what he did in the first half for England against Belgium on Tuesday (26 March).
Speaking on co-commentary on Channel 4 (07:57 pm), the pundit said the 30-year-old was going for an extravagant pass before it was intercepted by Toffees midfielder Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans found the back of the net with a “horrible strike” for the Red Devils.
He added that it was an error from the keeper in what is usually a strong part of his game, something he believes is a key part of why Gareth Southgate keeps him in the Three Lions side.
“He raises his hand in acknowledgement,” said Green. “It’s a gift. Jordan Pickford is going for an extravagant pass, there’s nothing on. He just tries to feed it into Jarrod Bowen and it’s a horrible strike, that’s all it is.
“There’s nothing more to it. It’s an error from Jordan Pickford and it’s such a strong part of his game he’s always so good at and what Gareth Southgate keeps him in the team for.”
England error unlike Everton ace Jordan Pickford
It was certainly a surprising error from Pickford as he is usually assured on the ball and plays out from the back with relative ease.
But he tried to pick out a pass that simply wasn’t on to Jarrod Bowen and he got caught out by his Everton teammate Onana, with Tielemans eventually punishing the mistake.
The keeper will be incredibly disappointing as that is the part of his game that makes him stand out for Southgate ahead of some of the other options.

He isn’t the kind of player to let things get him down and impact his performances moving forward, but he will want to ensure it doesn’t happen again any time soon, particularly for the Toffees.
He’s going to be vital in helping the Blues fight off relegation again this season after being extremely reliable between the sticks in recent years at Goodison Park.
