Everton: Joe Cole reacts to what Amadou Onana did in ‘beautiful’ moment

Joe Cole was awestruck by what Everton midfielder Amadou Onana did for Belgium against England on Tuesday (26 March).

Speaking on Channel 4 on Tuesday (08:38pm), the pundit said it was a “beautiful” pass from the 22-year-old as he intercepted Jordan Pickford’s searching ball to set up Youri Tielemans for the opening goal at Wembley.

He added that you can’t underestimate how good the midfielder’s touch was as the Red Devils drew 2-2 with the Three Lions.

“It’s a lovely touch from Onana there and Tielemans, I think he’s being very clever there,” said Cole. “This touch here, don’t underestimate that.

“That’s a beautiful weighted pass and then he just knows Pickford’s going to be desperately trying to get to his far post and he just sort of drags it with his left foot into the bottom corner. It’s a great finish.”

Everton star Amadou Onana shows quality for Belgium

It was a superb touch from Onana as he cut out Pickford’s poor pass from the back and laid it into Tielemans’ path for the opener.

The midfielder put in a solid performance in the middle of the park for his country as he looks to nail down his place in the side ahead of this summer’s European Championships.

It’s no surprise to see him catching the eye on the international stage after he’s been in fine form for the Toffees over the past couple of seasons.
