Everton: Simon Jordan and Jim White clash over what’s happened in 777 Partners takeover saga
Simon Jordan and Jim White clashed live on air over how long it’s taken the Premier League to make a decision on the 777 Partners takeover at Everton.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday (26 March), White said it “doesn’t look good” as he suggested a decision should have been made by now after the US investment firm agreed a deal with Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri back in September.
Jordan told the host to “hang on” as he said there has been a push for more stringent rules to be brought in as he claimed the system is more sophisticated now and that the league are taking their time over the decision after watching the “carnage” that has unfolded at Goodison Park over the past three years.
“It doesn’t look good, does it?” asked White. “It’s six months on from them agreeing a deal with Moshiri.”
“Hang on,” said Jordan. “On one hand we’re constantly saying we want strident and stringent integration.”
“Would you not expect it to be done?” added White.
“Possibly,” replied Jordan. “But we’re in a situation where this is quite a sophisticated mechanism being deployed, making sure that these people are buying the football club for the best reasons. They’ve just watched three years of carnage at Everton. Moshiri did that, Moshiri’s ownership did that.”
Could 777 Partners takeover go through at Everton?
There is still quite a lot that needs to happen before 777 can take over at Everton despite receiving conditional approval from the Premier League.
The conditions include the group repaying the Toffees’ existing creditors after the club has been mismanaged over the past few years.
While the governing body isn’t very popular on Merseyside following its mishandling of the points deduction saga, there are plenty of reasons why it’s taking precautions before pushing through the deal.
There are huge question marks around whether the company has the necessary funding to complete the takeover and be able to take the Blues forward.
It seems as though the situation is going to go on for a little while longer, but for the fans’ sake, hopefully the matter will be concluded soon.
