Everton: Manchester United eye Jarrad Branthwaite transfer as Rasmus Hojlund update emerges

Manchester United want to sign both Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite and a new striker during the summer transfer window, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper reported on its website on Wednesday (27 March) that the Red Devils are looking at the Toffees defender as a possible target as they have made strengthening at centre-back their priority this summer.

United are also keen to sign a new striker to support Rasmus Hojlund following his impressive first season in the Premier League and Erik ten Hag will likely be keen to add another right-back to his squad this summer.

The Toffees’ situation both financially and in regard to relegation could impact Branthwaite’s future and his value in the transfer market but he is expected to cost upwards of £50million if he leaves Goodison Park this summer.

Will Everton sell Jarrad Branthwaite amid Manchester United transfer interest?

Branthwaite’s future will be the subject of speculation from now until the end of the season as his impressive performances in his first full year of Premier League football have caught the eye of both pundits and supporters alike.

While he didn’t get the minutes he deserved during the international break having been handed his first senior England call-up, his value will likely increase if he makes Gareth Southgate’s squad for this summer’s European Championships.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a player Everton are desperate to keep hold of this summer.

Manchester United need new centre-backs desperately this summer and Branthwaite’s impressive form partnered with his young age makes him the perfect candidate to slot into the Red Devils’ backline, however, it won’t be a cheap deal to get over the line.

Everton’s financial situation may be bleak, but they are in an excellent position to hold teams to ransom when they sell Branthwaite, regardless of whether or not they are relegated this term.

Hopefully, they’ll keep him on Merseyside, but the chances of that seem to be fading with each week.
