Everton: 777 Partners takeover crucial to Genoa gem Koni De Winter arriving at Goodison Park
Everton are still awaiting news as to whether 777 Partners will be given the green light to complete its takeover at Goodison Park.
Six months on from agreeing to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s full 94.1-per-cent stake in the club, it is still unclear if the deal will go through.
There are plenty of serious doubts as to whether the American investment fund is truly the best option for the Toffees.
777 Partners takeover latest at Everton
Many are hopeful the takeover does collapse and that another investor, with less of a murky history, is waiting in the wings to pounce.
Should the 777 deal go through, though, it will at least steady the ship for the time being in terms of finances.
And that will likely mean the club can bring in a new talent or two in the summer, albeit without us knowing what division we will be in at this point.
777 Partners’ multi-club stable could massively benefit Everton, too, as they have their fingers in many pies to to speak.
Everton interested in Genoa defender Koni De Winter
That is particularly interesting on the back of a report from Tuttomercatoweb [27 March] claiming Everton want to sign defender Koni De Winter.
De Winter is a versatile defender who plays predominantly at centre-back but can also be used on the right-hand side of defence.
While he is technically contracted to Juventus, he joined Genoa on a season’s loan last summer with an obligation to buy permanently.
777 also have a stake in Genoa, meaning there will be clear links between the Italian side and Everton should the Americans come on board.
Given Genoa are paying a relatively small sum of just €8million (£6.8m) for De Winter, this is a deal that looks realistic on the face of it.

De Winter made history in December 2021 when becoming the youngest Juve player to start a Champions League game.
While Juve did not want to keep him on their books, the 21-year-old has continued to develop and earned his first Belgium senior cap last week.
The 777 Partners takeover comes with plenty of negatives, but if a positive spin was needed, helping with deals such as this is certainly one.
