Everton must do everything to sign Samuel Iling-Junior as contract update emerges at Juventus
Jarrad Branthwaite, Amadou Onana and James Garner are prime examples that young talents can thrive at Everton despite the club battling against Premier League relegation.
The former duo, 21 years old and 22 years old, have both been linked with moves away from Goodison Park due to their brilliant form this season.
This should attract many more young prospects to Everton and, with plenty of areas of the current squad for Sean Dyche to improve upon, the summer transfer window cannot come fast enough.
Can Everton land Samuel Iling-Junior’s signature this summer?
It was reported in November, as per TEAMtalk, that the Toffees were facing competition from Fulham, Tottenham and Aston Villa ahead of the January transfer window.
Although no transfer ever materialised, it appears that Everton have remained interested in Iling-Junior despite the player closing in on a new deal in Italy.
As per CalcioMercato (29 March), Juventus are “one step away” from finalising a new deal for the 20-year-old, but the youngster has not ruled out a move back to England, with the Toffees still keeping tabs.
Considering Everton’s current winger situation, with Jack Harrison’s future at Goodison Park relatively unknown, Iling-Junior is a transfer that the club must target this summer.
With the way Dyche likes to set up, favouring a counterattacking style of football, pace is an extremely important aspect for the Toffees, and the England youth international brings that in bags.
Why would the former Chelsea academy star leave Juventus?
Due to his age, Massimiliano Allegri has continued to prefer Filip Kostic on the left flank, seeing the Englishman make just two Serie A starts this season.
This could be key in persuading Iling-Junior to join the group at Goodison Park, especially if Harrison is to return to Leeds United at the end of his loan spell.
Everton’s defence has been exemplary this season, having only conceded more goals than Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, leaving the attacking third needing much improvement.
