Everton: Goodison Park issues on cards as agents could lose money on players

There could soon be an issue on the cards at Everton as some of their players’ agents may be set to lose money if the club are relegated from the Premier League, according to Neil Moxley.

Writing on page 52 of the Sunday People’s print edition on 31 March, the journalist said the Toffees’ players will likely have clauses in their contracts that will see their wages slashed if they go down this season, potentially costing them – and their agents who will earn a percentage of their salary – millions in lost earnings.

But if it turns out that the Blues could have stayed up without being hit with their six-point deduction, he added that the players could have a case to suggest they shouldn’t lose 50 per cent of their wages as he warned there could be problems on the horizon in the next few weeks at Goodison Park.

Everton are in a tricky situation

There are obviously several reasons why Everton simply has to remain in the Premier League this season, but this is yet another issue that could present itself.

While the Toffees haven’t been in great form and the performances haven’t been good enough lately, the players could potentially have grounds to suggest they shouldn’t lose out on their wages if they could have survived without the points deduction.

Given how tight it is at the bottom of the table, there is a very good chance that could prove to be the case and the club could find itself in an even deeper financial mess.

It’s absolutely imperative that Sean Dyche gets his side going again to ensure these problems don’t arise because they can’t afford to be paying Premier League wages to an entire squad in the second tier.

It’s been a season of uncertainty on and off the field for the Blues and the recent performances certainly won’t be helping ease the fans’ concerns at Goodison as matters must quickly start improving.
