Kieran Maguire shares Goodison administration update as Everton post new accounts
Kieran Maguire has shared an administration update after Everton have now posted their new accounts.
Writing on his Twitter page on Sunday (31 March), the football finance expert said the Toffees’ accounts and audit report both refer to a material uncertainty over the club’s ability to trade as a going concern.
He added that this is not the same as saying administration is probable at Goodison Park, with the Blues revealing that their revenue dropped by five per cent to £172million in 2022/23.
Everton need to sort out financial mess
The financial problems at Everton will no doubt be causing plenty of concern for the club’s fans as the situation doesn’t appear to be getting any easier.
Although there is a lot of complicated information to unpack in the report, at least it sounds like administration isn’t an immediate danger at this point.
But that doesn’t mean to say it won’t be in the future as the mismanagement from the very top has landed the club in a real mess.
It’s clear that the Toffees need new investment and fresh ideas to start moving forward again, but it doesn’t appear as though a takeover will happen any time soon.
The situation with prospective owners 777 Partners is continuing to rumble on and, if it can’t get a deal over the line soon, then Farhad Moshiri needs to step up and start providing some answers.
In other Everton news, Jeff Stelling has mooted a £45million exit for one Toffees star.
