Richard Keys rages at officials after what happened in Everton loss v Bournemouth

Richard Keys has hammered the officials from Bournemouth’s win over Everton after Dominic Calvert-Lewin was denied a penalty.

The Toffees fell to defeat after an injury-time Seamus Coleman own goal, making it 12 without a win, but were denied a penalty in the second half when Calvert-Lewin was brought down inside the box after a trip.

VAR didn’t overrule the on-pitch decision, and writing in his blog (2 April) the former Sky Sports host admitted he was baffled at how it wasn’t given.

“What a weekend it was for ref howlers. Mind you – when isn’t it?” he wrote.

“Calvert-Lewin should’ve had one at Bournemouth though, but that one went unnoticed somehow.”

Is the Premier League against Everton?

At this point it’s hard to argue with an Everton fan who genuinely believes that the Premier League is out to get them.

An unprecedented ten-point deduction for PSR breaches that was later reduced to six, with a second charge pending and a barrage of terrible decisions across the campaign.

While the Toffees haven’t been able to help themselves on the pitch with some poor finishing across the season, the amount of decisions that have gone against them this year is a bit mental.

Anyone with eyes could see that the Bournemouth defender kicked the shin of Calvert-Lewin and the replay makes it even clearer, so how is it possible that VAR can see it and not correct the referee?

The whole point of it is to help referees out, but instead they have managed to make the errors stand out even more and they’re always the talking point after a weekend of games. It’s poor.
