Everton: Alan Brazil destroys ‘clown’ Paul Dummett after ‘ridiculous’ moment at St James’ Park

Alan Brazil has fumed at Newcastle defender Paul Dummett after he gave away a penalty against Everton at St James’ Park which saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin rescue a point in the 1-1 draw.

The former Ipswich man shared he doesn’t understand what goes through players’ minds in moments like that, and insisted Eddie Howe would be fuming.

McCoist echoed his sentiment, claiming it was an obvious penalty and a crazy decision from the defender which ultimately cost his team a point at home from a game they should have won.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [3 April, 06:24], Brazil fumed: “What was dumb and dumber Dummett doing in the Newcastle v Everton game? What are you doing there? I just don’t understand players. He hauls down an Everton player off the ball and wrestles him to the ground.”

McCoist shared his view: “I know, it was madness. Absolute madness. It’s crazy, you don’t know what goes on in their head. It’s a penalty all day, I don’t know what he’s thinking about.”

Brazil then continued his rant: “Dumb and dumber, I shouldn’t call him that but his manager will think ‘What are you doing, you clown?’ The ball was nowhere near the Everton player and he wrestled him to the ground. It was ridiculous.”

Paul Dummett slammed after mistake in Newcastle v Everton

A needless foul off the ball ultimately cost Newcastle all three points and Brazil will echo the words of plenty of Geordie fans this morning with his anger and questioning what Dummett thought he was doing making that foul.

As far as Everton and Calvert-Lewin are concerned, they’ll take those sorts of moments all day. A crucial point in a tight relegation battle at a ground where many get nothing, and the first goal since October for the striker sent them home happy.

Calvert-Lewin has come under pressure recently for his dry spell in front of goal, but Alan Shearer insisted that when he gets one, the goals will start to flow. Sean Dyche and the Toffees’ fans will be praying that is the case now.

Everton boss Sean Dyche
Sean Dyche’s Everton side have faced plenty of challenges both on and off the pitch this season.

A point ultimately proved crucial as Nottingham Forest picked up all three in their clash with Fulham, moving just one point behind Dyche’s side who have also pulled four clear of Luton in the bottom three and with superior goal-difference.
