Everton: Alan Stubbs shares Premier League relegation prediction in points deduction verdict
Alan Stubbs can’t see the luck of Everton turning around anytime soon as he discussed their financial troubles with BBC Radio 5 Live.
Following the 1-1 draw at Newcastle on April 2, the former Toffees defender said that another points deduction for financial breaches, having already been docked six, could be curtains for their Premier League survival bid.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, he said “There is that sense that the fans are looking for where the next knock is coming from and unfortunately the performances have not done anything to lift the mood”.
With the Toffees set to find out by the end of this week if they’ll receive a further punishment, Stubbs felt that another docking of points would be unfair, saying, “I don’t think they should (get another deduction), personally, because they have already been punished and it would smack of double jeopardy if they do.”
Everton fate in the balance with hearing answers looming
Rescuing a 1-1 draw late in the day against a side who have played Champions League football this season could be seen as a good omen for Everton, but even with that penalty from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, they’re now a record 13 Premier League games without a win.
The on-field action has almost played second fiddle to Everton’s financial woes this season though, which Stubbs acknowledged by admitting it didn’t look great for the club.

That’s putting it mildly, with another points deduction likely to be imposed upon the Toffees by the end of the week at Goodison Park.
After having their initial 10-point penalty reduced to six in February, any momentum gained from that recent appeal – which hasn’t translated to an uptick of form on the pitch whatsoever – would be wiped out in an instant.
Even without all of the chaos of the Premier League hearing, one thing is for certain, the on-pitch performance needs to improve drastically.
In other Everton news, manager Sean Dyche spoke with TNT Sports about his confusion as to why VAR took so long to award his side a penalty against Newcastle.
