Everton: Bayern Munich chiefs ‘already dealt with’ Amadou Onana amid £42.8m transfer

Bayern Munich chiefs have “already dealt with” Everton star Amadou Onana ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to Christian Falk.

Speaking on his Bayern Insider podcast (4 April), the reliable German journalist reports that former club chiefs Hasan Salihamidzic and Marco Neppe have been watching the Belgium international for a long time.

Onana is one of the Toffees’ biggest assets and is reported to have a value of around €50m (£42.8m), although some reports suggest Everton will want as much as £60m to let him leave after spending £33m to sign him from Lille two summers ago.

“The previous leadership around Hasan Salihamidzic and Marco Neppe had already dealt with him,” he said.

Another report from FCBInside adds that “the Everton star is considered one of the top options for the upcoming signing of a new six.”

Everton face a battle to keep Amadou Onana

The summer transfer window is going to be a rough one at Goodison Park, because the need for finances is so great and everyone in the world knows it.

Jarrad Branthwaite has been linked with a move away with several top clubs interested, and obviously if he is sold then it would go down as pure profit on the books which could help massively with FFP issues.

However Onana is seemingly just as in-demand, and if an offer were to come in for him first that helped the club’s situation then they would be just as inclined to make a deal.

In an ideal world Sean Dyche will want to keep his best players and keep his squad together, but that could be taken out of his hands depending on the ownership situation and the fact that the club would be playing in the Championship.

Everton could well have no leverage in negotiations if these top Champions League clubs come in with hard cash, and it looks inevitable that Onana and Branthwaite will leave this summer.
