Everton supporters right to be furious as Luton Town announcement made today
Everton supporters have every right to be furious after it was confirmed next month’s huge showdown with Luton Town has been moved.
The game at Kenilworth Road – a potential relegation decider – has been brought back a day to 3 May, which is a Friday night.
Sky Sports moved the fixture at relatively short notice, as confirmed by Everton in an announcement on the club’s official website [5 April].
Not only do fans who have planned the trip in advance now have to find alternative arrangements, they must also factor in that it is a Friday night.
Luton Town v Everton fixture date changed
Making the eight-hour round-trip on a Saturday is difficult enough, but doing so late on a Friday is even more difficult.
With the game not finishing until close to 10pm, it is a safe assumption to make that there will be no trains for fans to catch back north.
Again, though, Sky has the final say and supporters simply have to accept the decision.
Everton will now have a six-day gap between hosting Brentford and facing Luton, with eight days to then prepare for the visit of Sheffield United.
There are no complaints on that front, but the logistics of attending this fixture will not be an an enjoyable experience for those still able to attend.
