Everton superfans would step in on Goodison takeover if 777 Partners deal collapses
Two Everton fans are readying themselves to assume full financial control of the club according to journalist Alan Nixon, with 777 Partners’ takeover bid continuing to move at a snail’s pace.
Breaking the story on his Patreon page, Nixon says that Andy Bell and George Downing are “ready to save the club’s future” as doubt looms over the ability of 777 Partners to provide the funds needed to lift Everton out of financial trouble.
Bell and Downing, both highly successful in the worlds of finance and property respectively, have pursued talks with 777 over purchasing Everton’s new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium on Liverpool’s waterfront, but Dixon reports that the pair would also be prepared to take on ownership of the club as a whole.
Nixon said, “Bell and Downing are not keen on owning and funding the club, although they would step in if 777 ran into trouble down the line”, suggesting that both he and the duo are far from convinced by the American investment group’s own bid to restore Everton’s status as a financially healthy Premier League club.
Rare league victory doesn’t alleviate off-field pressures at Everton
With 777 Partners’ takeover talks still in limbo, and a second points deduction of the season looking likely to be cast down on the club as early as next week, Sean Dyche’s side securing their first Premier League win in 14 attempts against Burnley was a welcome relief to all at Goodison Park on 6 April.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal prevented Everton from breaking a club record of consecutive league games without victory, but should they be found guilty of further financial breaches, those three points will likely be wiped off the board in an instant.
Should 777 Partners’ deal fall through, Bell and Downing’s intention to purchase Bramley-Moore Dock as the Toffees leave Goodison could prove to be a masterstroke from the two long-time supporters, providing Everton fans with a link between their ancestral home and an exciting future marked by financial stability.
