Everton: Kevin Campbell reacts to ‘big problem’ as second points deduction emerges
Kevin Campbell shared his verdict on a “big problem” for Everton as the Premier League deduction another two points from the club on Monday (8 April).
David Ornstein revealed, as per The Athletic, that the Toffees had been deducted a further two points for a breach of Profit and Sustainability rules, seeing them drop down one place to 16th in the Premier League.
Goodison Park has been clouded with uncertainty this season, having already been deducted six points earlier this season for a separate PSR breach – with that coming after a partially successful appeal saw a 10-point deduction reduced.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Monday (8 April, 2:29pm), Campbell reacted to the news, saying: “It’s definitely not easy. They [players] knew something was happening – that’s the big problem.
“Sean Dyche is having to manage up, isn’t he? The players keep getting knocked down. When you actually look at what’s going on… eight points have been deducted.
“That’s a lot of points when you’re battling down there. If they had those points back, they’d be virtually safe. But they’re making it so difficult for Everton, and Nottingham Forest too.”
Everton slip closer to the Premier League relegation zone
Despite claiming a vital three points against Burnley on Saturday 6 April, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win, Dyche’s squad will almost feel like they drew against the Clarets.
With Brentford and Luton Town picking up points around the Toffees at the bottom of the table, two more points being taken away from the club could be crucial in the end-of-season run-in.
Forest have also experienced their fair share of issues with PSR, having been deducted four points. This could be a saving grace for Everton, with Sheffield United and Burnley likely to be two of the three sides relegated.

Without the total of eight points deducted, Everton would be sitting comfortably in 14th place, with 35 points from 31 matches, which would almost guarantee survival this season.
However, Everton are once again facing the threat of relegation for a third season running, and this time, it could be fatal as the points deductions continue to play an important role in the campaign.
