Everton: Super Computer makes Premier League relegation prediction after points deduction
Everton now stand a 5.6% chance of being relegated from the Premier League after their second points deduction, according to Opta’s Super Computer.
The Toffees’ chances of Premier League survival have taken a significant hit following their punishment for P&S charges, with the Opta Analyst more than doubling their chances of relegation from 2.2% in a single day.
With the points deduction coming barely 24 hours after the Toffees beat Burnley 1-0 to record a first league victory in 14 attempts, the optimism generated by that win has been eroded, as they dropped to 16th in the Premier League.
Charges threaten to further derail demoralising Everton season
A first win in 14 Premier League games for Everton – avoiding a decades-long club record – moved them four points clear of the relegation zone, even with Luton’s win over Bournemouth bringing them level with Nottingham Forest on the other side of the dotted line.
Goalkeeper Arijanet Muric’s clearance deflecting off Dominic Calvert-Lewin and into the Burnley net looked to be the slice of luck Everton needed after a torrid few months, but now they’re right back into the thick of things, only two points above the dropzone.

Forest’s 3-1 loss at Tottenham keeps them below Everton for now – having already received their four-point deduction in March – but it’s Luton who appears to be on the up with just six games of the season remaining.
The Hatters’ massive 20.1% fall in probability of relegation after a first victory in 10 should spell trouble for the sides above them, and with the outcome of Everton’s points deduction appeal given no set timeframe, the Toffees’ fate may end up in limbo as they creep increasingly closer to the Premier League’s trapdoor.
In other Everton news, Ian Wright and Tim Sherwood debated the impact of the punishment and the club’s chances of successfully appealing it.
