Everton takeover: 777 Partners and MSP Sports Capital conspiracy shut down amid £158m update
Prospective new Everton owners 777 Partners and MSP Sports Capital are not conspiring together to complete a takeover at Goodison Park, according to The Esk.
777 Partners have agreed on a deal to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s controlling stake in the Toffees, but are yet to receive approval from the Premier League and have now requested an extension to the original deadline of Monday 15 April.
To receive the league’s approval, the American firm has agreed to pay the majority of a £158million loan back to MSP Sports Capital, but 777 has now entered talks to try and push the repayment of that loan back [i News, 11 April].
If MSP doesn’t agree to push back that agreement, they could exercise their right to become Everton’s majority shareholder. However, Everton financial expert, The Esk insists that this would not be done to help 777 Partners’ takeover.
Writing on X on Thursday (11 April) he said: “They’re definitely not conspiring with 777.”
Will 777 Partners or MSP Sports Capital complete their takeover of Everton?
It’s safe to say the current situation at Everton is as worrying as it could be as there is little to suggest that 777 Partners are capable of completing their takeover, let alone able to successfully fund the Toffees in the future.
Whether or not MSP would even be interested in securing the controlling stake at Goodison Park remains to be seen, but they will also be reluctant to give 777 any more time to raise funds to pay off of the £158million loan.
Those in charge at the American investment firm insist that they still remain confident a deal will be completed sooner rather than later, but is almost impossible for supporters to see how this ends well for the Toffees.
Hopefully, some more clarity will emerge over the situation in the coming days as talks continue, but until then, fans will just have to take some limited comfort in the fact there is no big conspiracy to help 777 takeover the Toffees.
