Everton agree Demi Akarakiri deal for new transfer after Arsenal exit
Everton have signed under-16 midfielder Demi Akarakiri after he left Arsenal, who is expected to be a scholar at Goodison Park next season, according to Jeorge Bird.
Bird, who is followed by David Ornstein on X, described Akarakiri as a “skilful player” with “impressive passing ability”.
It is also said that the midfielder had previously trained up in years in the Gunners’ academy with the under-18 squad and will now continue his development in the Everton youth ranks.
Everton sign Arsenal midfielder at Goodison Park
The midfielder will link up with the academy sides at Finch Farm, and it is yet to be seen which age group he will be representing, although the expectation of a scholarship deal next season proves the club has faith in his development.
Having played up the age groups in the Arsenal academy, that should serve as proof that he was highly-rated at The Emirates despite his eventual departure which allowed Everton to swoop for what may prove to be somewhat of a coup.
His apparent skill and passing ability in midfield should improve the academy team and help them further progress, with the hope of stepping up through the age groups with an eventual first-team impact at Goodison in the long-term plan.
Director of Football Kevin Thelwell had previously explained the plans to target younger players who can eventually be sold on for a profit as they improve at Everton, and while Akarakiri may be younger than those he was speaking of, the direction is clear for his development.
