Everton: Premier League relegation verdict delivered by Sam Allardyce ahead of Chelsea clash

Sam Allardyce says there is “no doubt” that Everton will avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

The Toffees make the trip to Chelsea on Monday (15 April) sitting two points above the dropzone with two games in hand on Luton Town.

While Allardyce believes Sean Dyche still needs to resolve one issue in particular, he cannot see his former side dropping out of the league.

“It’s going to be a difficult task for Everton because of their current position and the mood of the team,” he told talkSPORT [15 April, 09:41am] when discussing the Chelsea game.

“Whether the points deduction has got to the players, they’re not performing very well at all. I was at the Manchester United game, and while Everton played quite well, they gave away two silly penalties and couldn’t score.

“Sean Dyche needs to sort out who is going to score the goals. I think they’re safe this year – there’s no doubt about that – because the others that have come up haven’t been as strong as previous years.”

How to watch Chelsea vs Everton

The Toffees can move a giant step closer to Premier League safety should they defeat mid-table Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football from 6:30pm as part of Monday Night Football.

Everton have hopefully turned a corner with results of late, having followed up a 1-1 draw at Newcastle United with a 1-0 win against Burnley.

This trip to West London is followed by three successive home games, the first of which is against Nottingham Forest next weekend.

It means survival could be all but confirmed this time next week with six points from six, but the opposite – no points – does not bear thinking about.

As the cliche goes, it is one game at a time. Pick up a positive result against Chelsea and that Forest game becomes a little less stressful.
