Everton: £79m update on Jarrad Branthwaite in Manchester United transfer news
Manchester United have been scouting Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite among other candidates, although they will not pay his £79.4million price tag, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist reported via his X account on 16 April that a new centre-back is “definitely” supposed to arrive at Old Trafford this summer, with Branthwaite one of the options.
However, he was told that the Everton star is not their top target, which will come as a relief to fans at Goodison Park amid plenty of transfer rumours.
Manchester United want to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton
Manchester United’s interest in Branthwaite comes alongside links with the likes of Real Madrid and Newcastle as it is widely expected he could leave Goodison Park this summer – even with his poor display at Stamford Bridge in the 6-0 defeat.
However, with such a high price tag reaching almost £80million, whether any of Europe’s elite are prepared to pay the money to take Everton’s star man away from the club this summer remains to be seen.
The money required to pry Branthwaite away from Everton could prove beneficial to the club’s ongoing financial situation with the backdrop of a disappointing season having been dominated by profit and sustainability concerns.
Meanwhile, it has been said that any deal for Branthwaite to leave Goodison Park this summer could fund the club’s transfer window, with a possible rebuild of Sean Dyche’s squad reportedly on the cards as a result.
