Everton: Dele Alli makes contract admission live on Sky Sports amid Goodison exit speculation
Everton midfielder Dele Alli has admitted he doesn’t yet know if he will leave Goodison Park during the summer transfer window.
The former Tottenham star has missed the entirety of the Premier League season so far through injury, having had a loan spell cut short at Besiktas last season and is set to be out of contract come the end of the season.
While there has been little indication from either party that they would be willing to extend his deal so far, the 28-year-old has broken the silence on his future and insisted that his entire focus is on getting back to full fitness.
Speaking on Sky Sports (16 April) he said: “The only target I have is the World Cup. Obviously, I’m injured right now and I’m signed to Everton, so my mind is to just take it day by day and make sure my injury heals right.
“It is annoying because I’ll just be fully training as the season is ending. I’m signed to Everton and I think it would be disrespectful to speak about anything else while I’m right here, they’ve been so amazing with me and I don’t know if it’s off the cards to be there next season. I don’t know that yet.
“They’re a club that has been amazing and I don’t know the details of that situation.”
Will Dele Alli leave Everton this summer amid transfer speculation at Goodison Park?
Everton’s current financial position off of the pitch at Goodison Park makes it incredibly difficult for the Toffees to plan too far ahead and that will have impacted their decision-making when it comes to Dele’s future on Merseyside.
If the midfielder can get back fit and available, there is no doubt he would be worth a gamble on a short-term deal on reduced terms as he has shown that he can be as good as anyone in the Premier League when he’s at his best.

But the Toffees aren’t in a position to be handing contracts out without cause. Before they can even consider extending the England international’s deal, they need to find out what league they’re playing in and what money they have to spend.
Reckless decisions in the past have been the reason behind the recent point deductions at Goodison Park. While every Everton fan would like to see Dele back to his best in blue, he has to first show that he is worth a new deal.
