Everton: ‘Disaster’ scenario shared amid 777 Partners takeover latest, relegation concerns

Alan Myers says it would be “a disaster” if Everton were to be relegated from the Premier League or enter administration.

The 777 Partners takeover at Goodison Park remains up in the air, while the club continue to be dogged by relegation concerns.

Supporters are desperate for some sort of reset, but Myers insists it is not as simple as being relegated, or indeed going bust, and starting afresh.

“There is absolutely no future in relegation or Administration,” respected journalist Myers posted on his personal X account [16 April].

“Erase it from your mind if it’s in there, a reset of course is essential but that has to be as a Premier league club, anything else is a disaster.”

What is the latest with the 777 Partners takeover at Everton?

Quite frankly, who knows? As laid out very well by Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports on Monday (15 April), the whole situation is farcical.

For all the talk of points deductions – and relegation does remain a serious possibility – the takeover picture needs to be cleared up.

It has now been over seven months since 777 Partners agreed to buy out Farhad Moshiri, yet we are still unclear which way this is heading.

On the pitch, the 6-0 thumping against a bang-average Chelsea side as only heightened fears of the club dropping into the Championship.

Some fans seem to think that could be a good outcome as it allows the club to refresh, much like the three teams that dropped down last term.

It is not as simple as that, though, even with new owners in place, as Everton need the mega millions that Premier League football brings in.

It is quite frankly a depressing scenario on both fronts, and the truth is there is no indication of when the grass will begin to look greener.

In other Everton news, a deadline has now been set for when the Toffees will hear back on their second Premier League points appeal.
